A multi-vehicle crash on I-95 northbound near Exit 25 in Canton on Monday, Aug. 17, sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries and shut down all northbound travel lanes, forcing detours through local roads.

Massachusetts State Police responded to the crash shortly after 8 a.m., according to NBC Boston. One victim required extrication from a vehicle and was airlifted by MedFlight helicopter due to the severity of injuries, Boston 25 News reported, citing Norwood Firefighters Local 1631. Canton paramedics transported a second critically injured patient directly to a Boston trauma center, while Sharon paramedics took a third patient to a local trauma center.

All northbound lanes were temporarily closed, with traffic diverted at Exit 23.

The Norfolk County State Police Detective Unit, Crime Scene Services and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are all investigating. As of Thursday, Aug. 20, state police had not released information about the cause of the crash or the identities of those involved.

Canton resident reports $40,000 in unauthorized withdrawals

Separately, a Canton resident reported to Westwood Police on Sunday, Aug. 9, that $40,000 had been drained from a Rockland Trust bank account through four unauthorized withdrawals, according to the Westwood Police log published by Westwood Minute, citing Detective Lieutenant Christopher Aylward.

The resident had opened the account at the Rockland Trust branch on University Avenue in Westwood. The unauthorized withdrawals occurred across three separate time periods: October 2025, March 2026 and May 2026. The report was logged at 12:39 p.m.

No arrests have been made. The Westwood Police investigation is ongoing, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
