Ralphie, the last of 28 dogs rescued from a U-Haul in Milton, has found a permanent home, according to Milton Animal League President Kimberley Reynolds.
In her Sept. 17 Milton Times column, Reynolds described the small tan-and-white dog leaving Milton Animal Shelter with his new family and favorite ball.
Staff and volunteers gathered for the departure. His ball went into the car first, Reynolds wrote. Ralphie followed.
A final adoption
Reynolds described Ralphie as a 12-pound dog, estimated to be two or three years old, who carried an “emotional support ball” and greeted people with a little bow.
His adoption completed the placement of the rescued group, according to her account. Reynolds also wrote that she adopted one of the dogs, Cooper.
The rescue began in December 2025, when police found dogs and puppies inside a U-Haul during freezing weather, according to a MassLive report. The animals received care through Milton Animal Control and the Animal Rescue League of Boston before finding homes.
Reynolds’s column emphasized the quieter work behind those outcomes: caring for animals, helping them build trust and preparing them for adoption.
Ways to support shelter animals
Milton Animal League supports the town-operated animal shelter through fundraising and volunteer work.
Its Howl-O-Ween fundraiser begins at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Milton Animal Shelter, 100 Access Road. The league’s website lists a costume parade, treats for pets and children, and raffle prizes.
The league’s 2027 shelter calendar is also available to order. Proceeds support its work caring for animals awaiting adoption.
