Jenn Perella will lace up the gloves again on Saturday, Aug. 29, carrying a four-fight win streak and a 5-1 professional record into a six-round bantamweight bout at Encore Boston Harbor Casino in Everett.

The 43-year-old Milton native faces veteran southpaw Chantal "Champ" Sumrall on the "Boston Harbor Fight Night 2" card, a Granite Chin Promotions and CES Boxing presentation. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the first bout at 7 p.m.

Perella, a 2024 National Golden Gloves finalist and two-time New England Golden Gloves champion, told the Milton Times she wants to make a statement in the bigger ballroom. "I want to keep going to get a big fight," Perella said. "I've stepped up my training and with Chris (Traietti) and my team, I hope to get that fight by this time next year if not earlier."

The fight marks Perella's second appearance at Encore. In November 2025, she defeated Brittany Dukes by unanimous decision in a four-round bout but sustained a gash above her right eyebrow in the second round. The cut required six stitches after the fight. She told Endicott College's Soundings Magazine in May that she pleaded with the ringside doctor who threatened to stop the bout: "If my eyeball falls out, please don't stop this fight."

Perella grew up one of seven sisters in Milton and excelled in three sports at Milton High School. She walked on to the field hockey team at Endicott College, where she became a two-time All-Conference selection and Player of the Year for the Class of 2005. She remains in the top 10 all-time in several Endicott categories, including points and game-winning goals, and was named to the Conference of New England's All-40th Anniversary Field Hockey Team in 2025.

Her boxing journey started with a $25 Groupon. In 2014, she and her sister bought the deal for Peter Welch's Gym in South Boston. She had her first amateur fight in 2015 and compiled a 16-4 amateur record before taking a five-year hiatus from 2018 to 2023 while her husband Anthony transitioned careers.

Perella returned at age 40 and reached the 2024 National Golden Gloves final in Detroit, where she lost to a 23-year-old Olympic qualifier. She turned professional shortly after, lost her debut in November 2024, then rattled off four straight wins. Granite Chin Promotions president Chris Traietti, based in Quincy, signed her to an exclusive contract last fall.

In her most recent outing on May 16 at Quincy Youth Arena, Perella won every round in a unanimous decision over Kate Radomska. She won every round. Her son's hockey team walked her to the ring for that fight, the first her two teenagers, Julianna and Joey, attended.

Perella trains six days a week while working as an event planner and personal trainer. She wakes at 6 a.m. to make her kids' lunches before training clients in her home gym and doing her own strength and conditioning with coach Nick Cyr, who has been with her since the beginning.

Traietti told the Milton Times that Perella is "defying time by getting better with each fight at 43 years old" and predicted she would "put on another masterclass performance" against Sumrall.

The card is headlined by undefeated Weymouth middleweight Francis "Frank The Tank" Hogan (22-0, 17 KOs), the reigning NABF champion, who faces Argentina's Ricardo "Bebo" Ruben Villalba (20-12-1, 8 KOs) in an eight-round main event. The event benefits the Quincy Fire Cancer Foundation. Tickets are available at GraniteChin.ticketspice.com and CESBoxing.com.
