Milton posts polling locations, sample ballots for Sept. 1 primary

Milton voters now have a full roadmap for the Sept. 1 State Primary after the town posted precinct-by-precinct polling locations and specimen ballots on its website Thursday, Aug. 13.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Sept. 1. The town's 10 precincts (including a split Precinct 4 and 4A) will vote at five buildings:

Tucker School, Blue Hills Parkway — Precincts 1 and 10
Milton Senior Center, Walnut Street — Precincts 2, 4 and 4A
Cunningham Park Community Center, Edge Hill Road — Precincts 3 and 7
Cunningham School Gymnasium, Edge Hill Road — Precincts 6 and 8
Copeland Field House, Milton High School, Gile Road — Precincts 5 and 9

Sample ballots for both the Democratic and Republican primaries are grouped by precinct on the town's election page. Precincts 1, 2 and 4A share one ballot; Precincts 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 share another; and Precincts 5 and 10 share a third.

Key deadlines

Two dates are fast approaching for residents who haven't yet registered or requested a mail ballot:

Saturday, Aug. 22 is the last day to register to vote. Town Clerk Susan M. Galvin's office at 525 Canton Ave. will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for in-person registration. Residents can also register online at www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/.

Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. is the deadline to apply for an early vote-by-mail ballot. The town advises applying well ahead of the cutoff to allow for postal delivery.

Early in-person voting

As we reported Aug. 3, early in-person voting begins Saturday, Aug. 22 and continues Monday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 28 at Town Offices, 525 Canton Ave., Blute Conference Room. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 22, then 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.

Ballot processing

The town will hold advance ballot removal and depositing sessions at Town Offices on Friday, Aug. 28 at 9 a.m. Additional sessions on Saturday, Aug. 29 and Sunday, Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. will be held if deemed necessary. Anyone wishing to observe must email [email protected] by the end of the business day before each session. No results from advance-processed ballots will be released until after polls close on Sept. 1.

In an Aug. 3 advisory reported by the Milton Times, the Milton Board of Registrars urged all eligible residents to participate in the primary. Residents with questions can reach the Town Clerk's office at (617) 898-4859.
