Canton families heading into the new school year will get one more chance to hear from district leaders before classes resume: the Canton School Committee meets Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. at Canton High School, 900 Washington Street.
It's the last scheduled public session before students return for the 2026-27 year. The district's online calendar shows the meeting running until 10 p.m.
The meeting is open to the public.
The full agenda had not been posted to the committee's minutes and agendas page as of Monday, Aug. 17. The committee's standard format includes a superintendent's report, new business, subcommittee updates and public comment.
The Budget and Finance Sub-Committee met Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the CPS Administration Building at 960 Washington Street, according to the town calendar.
At the committee's prior meeting on Aug. 6, members had votes scheduled on Cabot Fund grant awards and 2026-27 district goals, plus a first read of updated school handbooks and a closed session on collective bargaining.
The committee is chaired by Kimberly McCourt, with Sonja Grauds serving as vice chair, Amanda Ryder as clerk and Kristian Merenda as a member.
Canton's district website lists an Open House for Aug. 31 through Sept. 1. Updated school hours for 2026-28 are also posted on cantonma.org.
Residents who want to address the committee during public comment may speak for up to five minutes on agenda items or matters within the committee's authority, according to committee rules. The meeting will be live-streamed on Canton Community TV (Comcast 6 and 1070, Verizon 41) and at CantonCommunityTv.org.
