Milton's 14U Monarchs and 10U Red each won division championships at the Jennifer Kane Memorial Tournament at Forges Field in Plymouth.

The 12U Monarchs finished as runner-up in their division, giving Milton trophies in all three age brackets. Five Milton summer teams competed in the tournament overall, according to a Milton Girls Softball announcement.

Rain soaked Saturday's games. Milton Girls Softball said the weather did not stop the entire Milton contingent from having a great time honoring the tournament's legacy.

The tournament is organized by Plymouth YBS and honors Jennifer Kane, a Plymouth native who played softball in the town's youth organization. Kane graduated from Villanova University and was working as an accountant in New York City when she died at age 26 on Sept. 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center. Plymouth YBS holds the tournament each year in memory of Kane and all those who lost their lives that day.

The tournament draws youth softball teams from across the region and features 10U, 12U and 14U divisions.

The Monarchs program is Milton Girls Softball's 12U and 14U tournament arm. Each team competes in four tournaments across New England per season at a cost of about $1,000 per player. The program feeds into the Milton High School junior varsity and varsity softball programs.

Milton Girls Softball said the five teams that competed included the two championship squads and the 12U runner-up. The organization did not identify the other two Milton teams or their results.
