Milton residents can drop off old paint cans, solvents, cleaners and poisons at no cost on Saturday, Sept. 26, during the town's annual Household Hazardous Waste collection day at the DPW Yard, 629 Randolph Ave.

The event runs 9 a.m. to noon. Proof of residency is required.

New this year, Milton and Dedham have launched a pilot partnership allowing residents of each town to attend the other's hazardous waste event. The arrangement, detailed on the town's website, lets participating residents dispose of cleaners, oil-based paints, solvents and other hazardous materials at either town's collection day after obtaining authorization.

Dedham's 2026 event already took place on Saturday, July 25, so Milton residents who missed that window still have the Sept. 26 collection ahead.

To attend a partner town's event, residents must first contact Environmental Coordinator Cassandra Calabro for a Visitor Authorization Form that serves as a ticket. Calabro can be reached at 617-898-4968 or [email protected].

Both towns reserve the right to refuse unidentified materials, large quantities of hazardous waste and to cap the number of outside residents attending.

The Town of Dedham confirmed the partnership on its own website, listing Milton's Sept. 26 date for Dedham residents interested in attending.

For residents who can't wait until Sept. 26, Clean Harbors at 1 Hills Ave. in Braintree accepts household hazardous waste on the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon for $3 per pound. Call 877-333-4244 for details.
