A plan to carve a nearly 120,000-square-foot industrial building on Dan Road into seven leasable suites headlines the Canton Planning Board's first meeting in nearly a month.
The board meets Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Salah Meeting Room at Memorial Hall, 801 Washington St. Chair David McCarthy will preside over four substantive hearings and two administrative items, according to the agenda posted Wednesday afternoon.
Dan Road industrial overhaul
The biggest item by scope is a site plan review for 275 Dan Road, where Acorn Management Co. wants to reconfigure an existing building on 10.58 acres into seven industrial suites ranging from 11,350 to 15,400 square feet each. Attorney Suzanne Matthews and Acorn manager Stephen PQ Ricciardi will present the proposal, which calls for new loading docks, drive-in bays, storefront entryways, office space, electric HVAC, LED lighting and modernized stormwater systems. Exterior work would include brick restoration, roof repairs, new landscaping and reconfigured parking.
Rotenberg Center parking change
The Judge Rotenberg Educational Center at 240 Turnpike Road is asking the board to modify a previously approved site plan and to appeal a zoning decision. Facility manager Nick McGill and engineer Stuart Clark of Green Seal Environmental say a lease agreement for an existing adjacent parking facility eliminates the need for a parking lot expansion the board had earlier approved. The change would reduce the scope of physical construction at the Turnpike Road campus.
As we reported Aug. 11, the center's campus plans also came before Canton's Zoning Board of Appeals last week.
York Street scenic road matters
Two York Street properties are on the docket under Canton's Scenic Road By-Law. The board will continue a hearing on a notice of violation against Stephanie and Marc Lopilato at 448 York St., first taken up at the July 15 meeting. Next door, Gopal and Manju Chopra of 454 York St. are seeking approval to install a 4-foot iron fence along their frontage, add gravel ground cover and shrubs, erect two 5-foot brick pillars flanking the north entrance, close off a second driveway and remove loosely laid stones.
Other business
Board clerk Jeff Sullivan will ask to serve as the Planning Board's representative to Canton's Walk, Bike and Hike Committee. The board will also review minutes from its June 17 and July 15 meetings.
The next Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 2.
