Canton's Zoning Board of Appeals will hear seven cases Thursday, Aug. 13, including a request from the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center to scale back a previously approved parking expansion and a continued bid by Blue Hill Country Club to add padel ball courts.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Salah Meeting Room on the second floor of Memorial Hall, 801 Washington St., according to the meeting agenda posted Aug. 11.
Four formal hearings
The board's biggest agenda item is a modification request from the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center at 240 Turnpike St. The special-education facility, which employs roughly 1,641 people, wants to replace a parking lot expansion approved in a 2023 proceeding with what the application calls a "substantially smaller campus access improvement." The original application sought 76 new parking spaces.
Three residential cases round out the formal docket:
- 5 Lillian Road: Rosemont Design LLC, on behalf of homeowners Mary and Gary Titus, seeks dimensional relief to build an addition onto a pre-existing non-conforming dwelling.
- 0 Endicott Place: Louise A. Kent seeks dimensional relief for a structure.
- 19 Greenbriar Road: Lawrence Ransford seeks a special permit to install an 8-foot fence along a property line.
Informal hearings and a continuation
Two informal matters require lighter board review. Jean Hyppolite at 5 Lincoln St. is asking to modify a site plan's landscaping and parking layout. B'nai Tikvah, the synagogue at 1301 Washington St., wants approval for temporary banners during August and October.
The board will also revisit Blue Hill Country Club's proposal to install padel ball courts as an accessory use at the 27-hole private club at 23 Pecunit St. That case has been continued from a prior hearing.
