Families can hunt for fairy houses, make crafts and sip sparkly lemonade at the Eustis Estate on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The outdoor event, called Fairies in the Foliage, runs from 10 a.m. to noon on the estate's 80-acre grounds at 1424 Canton Ave. in Milton, according to Milton Scene. The Eustis Estate website also lists the event for Nov. 7.
Activities include a fairy house scavenger hunt, fairy-themed crafts and a fairy storywalk. Everything takes place outdoors, so organizers ask families to dress for the weather.
Tickets for Historic New England members are free for adults and $5 per child. Nonmember adults pay $15, and nonmember children pay $10. Every ticket includes admission to the house museum inside the 1878 mansion.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The estate, designed by Boston architect W. Ralph Emerson, sits at the base of the Blue Hills. The Eustis family lived there for generations before selling the property to Historic New England in 2012. After a restoration, the Eustis Estate Museum opened to the public in May 2017.
Karla Rosenstein, the estate's site manager, has described large outdoor events as a way to draw new visitors onto the property and into the house. In a profile on the Historic New England website, Rosenstein said the Fairies in the Foliage event is among the gatherings that bring new audiences to the estate.
