Milton's Department of Public Works is seeking bids for a town-wide contract to repair sidewalks, curb ramps and asphalt walkways.

Sealed bids are due by 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Engineering Department office on the second floor of Milton Town Offices, 525 Canton Ave., according to a bid notice posted by the Milton Scene. Bids will be publicly opened shortly after the deadline in the Cronin Conference Room at the same location.

The contract covers repair and reconstruction of concrete sidewalks, concrete curb ramps and bituminous sidewalks at locations throughout Milton. Work is expected to run from Monday, Sept. 21, through June 30, 2027. The bid notice states no price increases will be accepted over the term of the contract.

The notice does not list specific streets or a cost estimate for the project. Milton's Engineering Department oversees nearly 97 miles of local roads, according to the town's roadway preservation page, and sidewalk and curb ramp work has been a recurring priority. In 2023, the town hired LAL Construction Co. to rebuild curbing and curb ramps on Atherton Street, Crestview Road, Atherton Lane and Crestview Lane, according to town records.

DPW Director Tom McCarthy, who took over the role in May after serving as Director of Consolidated Facilities and Assistant DPW Director, leads the department, according to a town administrator update. Town Engineer Darwin Cevallos, who joined Milton in January with more than 21 years of engineering experience, is listed as the point of contact for the bid.

Bidders must register on the town's online procurement page to make the official bid list and receive addenda. Contract documents have been available for download there or for in-person viewing at the Engineering Office since Aug. 20. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

The contract award will be published in the Milton Times, Central Register, CommBuys and on the Milton procurement site.
