Canton boys soccer dropped a 5-1 Hockomock League home game to King Philip on Wednesday, Oct. 14, as Warriors senior Jakoby Penabad tallied a goal and three assists.

Braden Burns added two goals for King Philip, which snapped a six-game road losing streak with the win, according to MaxPreps. Penabad had a hand in four of the Warriors' five goals, HockomockSports.com reported. The remaining two King Philip goal scorers were not identified in available reports.

The 7 p.m. contest at Canton was a league matchup, and the lopsided result continued a difficult stretch for the Bulldogs. The loss drops Canton to 3-9-3 overall and 2-7-1 in Hockomock League play, 11th in the conference standings. The Bulldogs have been outscored 43-12 on the season.

King Philip improved to 5-8-3 overall and 2-5-3 in league play, eighth in the Hockomock.

Canton's home record fell to 2-5-3. The Bulldogs have won just two league games this fall: a 1-0 result at Taunton on Sept. 17 and a 2-1 home win over Attleboro on Sept. 24. Their only other victory was a 2-1 non-league win over Braintree on Sept. 19, according to the Canton schedule on MaxPreps.

The season has been defined by stretches of heavy scoring against Canton. The Bulldogs were shut out 5-0 in two separate league losses to Stoughton and Mansfield between Sept. 9 and Sept. 22. A 3-3 non-league tie with Duxbury on Oct. 3 offered a bright spot, but Canton has not won since the Attleboro game nearly three weeks ago.

The scorer for Canton's lone goal Oct. 14 was not identified in available reports as of Oct. 15.

Canton hosts Walpole in a non-league game on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs return to Hockomock play Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Milford at 4 p.m., then visit Westwood on Saturday, Oct. 24, at noon. Canton closes the regular season at home against Marshfield on Monday, Nov. 2, at 4:30 p.m.
