Friends of the Blue Hills wants to see the reservation through your camera lens by Oct. 23.

The Canton-based nonprofit is accepting entries for its 2026 photo contest, which opened Sept. 25 and closes Friday, Oct. 23, according to the organization's contest page. Photographers of all ages can submit shots in four categories: youth (under age 18), flora and fauna, recreation and people in the Blue Hills.

Jen Klein, executive director of Friends of the Blue Hills, said in a press release that the contest gives the community a chance to share what the reservation means to them. She said every photograph tells a story about the experiences the Blue Hills make possible.

All photos must be taken in or of the Blue Hills Reservation. Entries go to [email protected] and must include the photographer's name, hometown, category and photo title. Photos featuring people require written permission of the subjects, available upon request. Previous contest submissions are not eligible.

A panel of judges assembled by Friends of the Blue Hills will pick winners. The top three in each category will be professionally printed and framed by Page Waterman Gallery and Framing.

The winning photos will also travel. A public exhibit will tour Blue Hills-area towns, starting with an opening reception at the Milton Public Library in February 2027.

Winners will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Friends of the Blue Hills annual meeting at Milton Academy's Straus Library in Milton. The meeting will also recognize the organization's 2026 Volunteers of the Year. Tickets are available at friendsofthebluehills.org.

One detail for dog lovers: any photos featuring dogs must show them on a leash, in keeping with park rules.
