Milton and Canton residents can use a free website to look up voter registration records and participation in recent elections ahead of the Nov. 3 state election.
Did They Vote? lets users search for someone by first and last name plus a ZIP code or city and state. Results show registration status and participation in recent federal elections, according to the site.
The records may lag behind recent changes. The site’s data disclosure says states release voter-file updates on their own schedules, typically monthly. Residents checking their eligibility before the registration deadline should use Massachusetts’ official voter registration checker or contact their town clerk.
The Milton Scene highlighted the tool Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The site does not reveal anyone’s ballot choices. Its results are limited to a registered name, age range, city and state, registration status and election participation. Street addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, birth dates and party registration are excluded from public display, according to the site.
Searches are free and require no account. The site’s privacy policy says it uses Google Analytics cookies but excludes search contents and results from analytics.
People who want their voting record removed can submit a record-removal request. The separate messaging opt-out form stops text messages but does not remove a voting record.
Nine statewide ballot questions
The Nov. 3 election includes races for governor, Congress and the state Legislature, along with nine statewide ballot questions.
Nine questions ties the Massachusetts record since a 1918 constitutional amendment established the process, WCVB reported. Voters previously faced nine statewide questions in 1994, 1976 and 1972.
Local voting dates and locations
Early in-person voting runs Saturday, Oct. 17, through Friday, Oct. 30, on each town’s posted schedule.
