Four Milton youth baseball teams brought home championship hardware in July, combining for a 20-0 record across three invitational tournaments and outscoring opponents by margins that included a 27-0 blowout and a perfect game.

Milton American's 11A, 9A and 11B squads and Milton National's 12B team all won titles between July 11 and July 20, the Milton Times reported. The four clubs now head into Colonial League playoffs and additional tournaments in August.

Battle of the Boro: Milton American 11A goes 5-0

Head coach Dan Brown's 11A squad ran the table at the Battle of the Boro in Attleboro, beating top-seeded Raynham 14-6 in the July 12 final. Milton trailed 5-1 after the first inning before Mike Martini ripped a bases-clearing double in the second to seize the lead for good. Miles Doak pitched five innings of one-run ball to close it out.

Brooks Hallisey threw a complete-game shutout in the 6-0 semifinal win over Mansfield, where Asher Kulin launched a fourth-inning home run.

"We have some really deep pitching," Brown said. "And our focus is really on aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. If we can continue to do that, we'll be successful."

Through July 22, the 11A team led the South River League at 5-0-1.

Kids Helping Kids: 9A scores 50 runs in two days

Milton American's 9A team, coached by Brian Powers, won five games in two days at the Kids Helping Kids Tournament in Pembroke on July 11-12, piling up 50 runs. They beat Stoughton 8-6, Abington 12-9, Hingham 15-3, Martha's Vineyard 5-4 and Plymouth 10-7 in the final.

The championship game was the wildest. Milton trailed Plymouth 7-3 and was down to its last out before seven straight hitters reached base to complete the comeback. The team trailed in all five games and rallied in the sixth inning three times.

"It proved that they can win so it gave them a ton of confidence," Powers said. "They really came together as a team, they were cheering and pulling for each other and that led to the resilience they showed throughout the tournament."

Machado Memorial: 11B opens with 27-0 rout

Milton American's 11B team steamrolled through the Machado Memorial Tournament in East Braintree, opening with a 27-0 demolition of Weymouth on Friday, July 17, then beating Plymouth 15-0 and Scituate 18-3 before topping crosstown rival Milton National in the semifinals and edging Braintree American 6-4 in the final.

Five games in three days.

Head coach John Hurley said his team asks itself one question after every game: "Did we get better today? Whether we win or lose, we want the answer to be 'yes.' The kids have really bought into that mantra and it's really worked out for us."

Machado Memorial: Milton National 12B takes second title

Milton National's 12B team gave Milton two championships from the same tournament, cruising through pool play at 3-0 before walking off Foxboro in the semifinals and holding on to beat West Bridgewater 7-6 in the final.

RJ Horne threw a perfect game on Monday, July 20. Danny McLaughlin crushed two home runs in the pool-play win over West Bridgewater and finished the tournament with 15 RBIs, also representing Milton National in the Home Run Derby. In the semifinal walk-off, William Ye singled to start the rally and Johnny Horne drove in twin brother RJ for the winning run.

"We just have to have everybody continue to do their jobs," head coach Jim Horne said. "It's really not just one player standing out, everyone has really stepped up."

What's next

Milton National's 12B team heads to a Cooperstown, N.Y., tournament in August, leaning on its deep pitching staff. Milton American's 9A and 11B teams compete at the Freelake tournament the first weekend of August, with Colonial League playoffs beginning that same week.
