Milton High's boys soccer team earned its first win of the 2026 season, beating Newton North 1-0 in Bay State Conference play on Thursday, Sept. 17.

Milton HS Athletics posted the final score on X. The post listed only the score, with no goal scorer or other game details.

The shutout carries extra weight in conference context. Newton North entered the Sept. 17 matchup unbeaten, having opened the season with two draws. The Tigers sat third in MassLive's Bay State Conference boys soccer power rankings published Wednesday, Sept. 16. Milton, ranked ninth at 0-1, had dropped its opener 1-0 to top-ranked Brookline on Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to a MassLive roundup. Brookline stood at 2-0-1 and had outscored opponents 6-2 through three games.

The win over Newton North gives Milton a 1-1 record through two games.

The Wildcats entered the fall facing a significant scoring gap. Bora Ceranoglu, who tallied 19 goals in 2025, and Kenny Heraldo, a consistent scorer throughout his career at the Gile Road program, both graduated, according to a Milton Times preseason preview. Ceranoglu's 2025 campaign included a historic start in which he scored all eight of Milton's goals through the team's first five games, the Milton Times reported last September.

The preview identified a deep group of returnees expected to absorb that production. Rory Gorham, Cillian Gorham, Nico Mann, Bobby Naumes, Yovanny Santos and Lucas Petersen all returned for the Wildcats, who compete in the conference's Herget Division.

Which of those players found the net Thursday remains unknown. But the 1-0 result against a ranked, unbeaten opponent suggests the retooled roster is generating enough offense to win tight games early in the Bay State Conference schedule.
