Dr. Matthew Maré, who has served as assistant principal at Charles S. Pierce Middle School in Milton since 2023, will start Monday, July 27, as an assistant principal at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham.

The move leaves a vacancy at Pierce heading into the fall semester.

King Philip Regional School District announced the hire on Wednesday, July 23. Maré succeeds longtime Assistant Principal Kip Lewis and joins existing assistant principals Karen Archambault and Jill Porier on the school's leadership team.

Before arriving at Pierce, Maré spent two years as assistant principal at the Kevin M. Hurley Middle School in Seekonk. He started his career as a social studies teacher in Seekonk Public Schools.

While teaching in Seekonk, Maré co-founded the nonprofit Total Teacher Project, which hosted events aimed at helping educators build stronger relationships with students.

He holds a doctorate in education from Northeastern University, a master's in education from UMass Amherst, and a bachelor's in history from UMass Amherst.

"I'm deeply grateful for this opportunity and look forward to joining the King Philip team," Maré said in the district's announcement. He added that he looks forward to helping build a school community grounded in trust and positive relationships.

Milton Public Schools has not publicly announced a replacement or interim assistant principal at Pierce Middle School. The district's fall semester begins in late August.
