Robert G. Burke, a Republican from Dedham, is running for the U.S. House in Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The official candidate list also names Democrat Stephen F. Lynch and independent Rasheed Nicholas Walters.
Background
Burke’s campaign biography says he grew up in Milton and has worked in telecommunications, cleaning services, videography and delivery work. It describes earlier congressional campaigns in 2022 and 2024.
Jobs and immigration
His campaign proposes “BoxerWorks,” a manufacturing and training hub in Brockton using underused industrial space. He also advocates tariffs to encourage domestic jobs, reduced federal waste and much stricter immigration enforcement.
The biography reviewed does not identify the facility’s cost, a funding source, legislation or an implementation timetable. It does not quantify projected jobs or household savings.
The office’s authority
A House member can introduce legislation, vote on federal laws and serve on committees. A representative cannot independently establish a federally funded manufacturing project, change national immigration law or direct deportations.
Local effects would depend on the proposals Congress adopted, available funding and implementation by the responsible agencies. The published goals do not establish that those outcomes would occur.
The Milton-Canton Ledger did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
