Milton's Board of Park Commissioners will review the final Town Wide Master Recreation Plan on Thursday, Sept. 10. Engineering firm Tighe & Bond will present the finished report at the 7:30 a.m. meeting in the Cronin Conference Room at Milton Town Hall, 525 Canton Ave.

The meeting agenda, reported by Milton Scene, includes updates on several field projects, a Narcan presentation and other board business. The session is also open via Zoom.

The recreation plan aims to identify gaps in existing facilities, measure demand for programs and propose improvements across Milton's parks, according to the town's project page. Milton Parks and Recreation held a community survey forum on March 10 as part of the planning process. The Sept. 10 agenda describes the session as the board's final discussion with Tighe & Bond on the plan.

Field projects and CPA deadlines

Commissioners will hear updates on the Lower Gile Turf Field Project, which calls for a new synthetic turf multi-purpose field, sports lighting, a scoreboard and ADA access improvements. The project won Town Meeting approval in May 2022, but construction has stretched well past its original 2023 timeline. The town's project page has not been updated with a revised schedule.

Flatley Field is also on the agenda. The Milton Conservation Commission reviewed proposed repairs and enhancements to Flatley Field's recreational areas at a July 28 meeting, Milton Scene reported.

The board will discuss a proposed pipe enclosure at Kelly Field, located at 250 Brook Rd.

Community Preservation Act (CPA) project updates are scheduled as well. The Community Preservation Committee's page lists Sept. 25 as the FY2027 funding application deadline. Robert Levash, the Park Commissioners' designee on the committee, sits on that panel. In the prior fiscal year, the committee expected to recommend roughly $1 million for CPA-eligible projects town-wide.

Narcan, Teen Center and other business

The Milton Health Department will give a presentation on Narcan, the opioid-overdose reversal drug.

Other items include a status update on the Teen Center, appointment of a new commissioner to the Landing Committee and options for voucher payment signatures.
