The town of Milton could acquire the Labouré College of Healthcare campus on Adams Street, one of nine articles headed for a Fall 2026 Special Town Meeting that the Warrant Committee began reviewing Monday, July 13, 2026.

The 15-member committee, chaired by James H. "Jay" Fundling, convened at 6:30 p.m. in the Katherine Haynes Dunphy Conference Room at Town Hall, 515 Canton Ave. The session was also available by phone. Official minutes and any preliminary recommendations have not been posted.

Nine articles have been approved for the Special Town Meeting, according to the town's Town Meeting webpage. The Select Board, which prepares the warrant, discussed the slate at its own meeting Tuesday, July 14, 2026, with the Labouré campus listed in the board's posted agenda.

The proposed acquisition would give Milton control of the Labouré College campus at 303 Adams St., a property that will be vacated by the end of August. Labouré President Lily Hsu announced in February that the 135-year-old institution would cease academic operations by Sunday, August 31, 2026. Enrollment fell from 1,188 students in fall 2020 to roughly 530 in fall 2024, and the college's $9.4 million endowment could not cover operating deficits.

Labouré's nursing programs are transitioning to Curry College. Labouré's February announcement said proceeds from the campus sale would help fund a new Labouré Center at Curry.

No purchase price or funding mechanism for the town acquisition has been made public.

The Warrant Committee, appointed by the Town Moderator, reviews every warrant article and publishes a printed report that must reach households at least four days before the vote. Secretary Macy Lee and Clerk Karen Bosworth support the committee's work.

The Select Board has not yet set a date for the Fall Special Town Meeting. A Special Town Meeting can be called by the Select Board or by petition of 200 registered voters. Milton's representative Town Meeting has 279 members elected across 10 precincts.
