The Canton Historical Society is inviting neighbors to grab a lawn chair, settle in under the evening sky, and enjoy live acoustic music at its Summer Lawn Party Concert on Saturday, July 25.
Frank Drake, a Boston-area musician whose sound blends bluegrass, Americana, original songs, and roots country, will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Society's grounds at 1400 Washington St. in Canton. Drake plays mandolin, guitar, bass, and keyboards and has performed with groups including The Bagboys, Short Life of Trouble, and the Tom Hagerty Acoustic Band, according to his Bandcamp page and a listing with the Boston Bluegrass Union.
Ice cream and lemonade are included.
The Society is asking a suggested donation of $5 per person or $15 per family, according to the official event listing. All proceeds support the organization's work preserving Canton's history through educational programs, exhibitions, and the care of its collections.
George T. Comeau, president of the Canton Historical Society, said in the event listing that the lawn party is meant to bring history, community, and tradition together in one evening. He encouraged guests to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music with family and friends while supporting the preservation of Canton's history.
The Society, founded in 1871, is dedicated to collecting and sharing the stories and artifacts that define Canton. Its signature preservation project is the restoration of the David and Abigail Tilden House, and it maintains an exhibit space at the Canton Public Library.
The lawn party concert is a special event outside the Society's regular open house schedule. Guests should bring their own seating. In case of rain, the Society will post updates on its social media channels.
