Bulldogs reach the postseason
Canton qualified for the 16-team field after finishing 2-3 in Hockomock Davenport division play. Teams needed at least three wins, seven games played and a qualifying power ranking to earn a tournament berth, according to the MIAA.
The Bulldogs’ regular season included a 28-7 victory over Foxborough on Oct. 9 and losses to North Attleborough, 35-14 on Oct. 2, and King Philip, 29-3 on Oct. 16.
Canton went 9-3 last season under head coach Dave Bohane. Friday’s game will be played at Carmignani Memorial Turf Field at Shepherd Hill Regional High School.
Championship venue changes
Canton needs three playoff victories to reach the Division 4 championship game and four to win the title.
The final will have a different setting this year. The MIAA announced Nov. 2 that Gillette Stadium is unavailable for the 2026 championships. Replacement sites have not been announced.
Milton hosts Hingham
Milton also earned a postseason berth, taking the No. 8 seed in Division 3. The Wildcats (6-2) will host No. 9 Hingham (5-3) on Friday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m., according to Milton’s updated schedule.
The Boston Globe’s tournament preview identified Milton-Hingham as Division 3’s best first-round matchup and Canton as Division 4’s sleeper.
