Milton High's swim and dive team defeated Needham 95-85 on Tuesday, Sept. 15, to win the Bay State Conference Final.
The Wildcats traveled to Needham for the conference championship meet and came away with a 10-point victory, according to Milton HS Athletics. The win gives Milton a conference crown to go with a growing collection of state titles.
Milton's boys entered the fall as three-time defending MIAA Division 2 state champions. At the 2025 state meet, the Wildcats scored 197 points, more than doubling second-place Braintree's 95, MassLive reported. The relay team of Kyle Phan, Ryan Kelly, Matt Twitchell and Deacon O'Riordan closed that meet with a 400-yard freestyle relay time of 3:35.65, more than six seconds ahead of second-place Billerica.
Phan and Kelly have since graduated, but the roster still runs deep. Twitchell and O'Riordan, now sophomores, captured three relay golds at the 2025 state meet. Senior John Griffin and junior Xavier Brown also won relay titles. All four earned Bay State Conference all-star honors last season, along with Ayden Hoang and Owen Tran, according to MassLive's all-star selections.
The girls side returns serious talent. Senior Allison Boynton, the defending 200-yard Individual Medley state champion, leads the roster. Boynton won the 200 IM in 2:11.04 at the 2025 Division 2 state meet and holds Milton school records in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle.
She is joined by Cecile Letarte, Sage Scheller, Emily Morison, Julie Greene, Lucy Kamm and Michaela Oppong, all of whom scored points at the 2025 state championships, according to a Milton Times season preview. Letarte earned Bay State Conference honorable mention, and Boynton was named a first-team Herget Division all-star. The girls finished 10th at the 2025 state meet with 130 points. Newton North was the only team to beat them in dual-meet action last season.
No individual event results from Tuesday's conference final have been released. The MIAA Division 2 state championship schedule for the 2026 fall season has not been announced.
