Milton's Christopher Morrow, the reigning MIAA Division 1 individual golf champion, earned a spot on the Boston Globe's 15 Eastern Mass. high school golfers to watch.
Morrow, a junior at Xaverian Brothers High School, led the Hawks to a 16-0 regular season and the program's first Division 1 state team title in seven years in fall 2025. He captured the individual crown in a three-way sudden-death playoff at The Ridge Club in Sandwich on Oct. 21, 2025, shooting a 3-over-par 74 to share medalist honors with Arlington's Owen Shea and Longmeadow's Connor Henrey before winning on the first extra hole, the Globe reported.
He was the first Xaverian golfer to win an individual state title since 2007, according to the Boston Herald's All-Scholastic selections.
Morrow posted a 36.0 scoring average during the 2025 season and was named Catholic Conference MVP. The Globe's Craig Larson asked what Morrow can do for an encore. Mass Golf's roster lists Morrow in the class of 2028, making him a junior entering the 2026 season, though the Globe's watch list identified him as a senior.
Beyond high school, Morrow competed on the junior circuit during summer 2025. He reached the finals of the Massachusetts Junior Amateur championship and finished in the top 10 at the AJGA Junior Golf Hub Open, earning a spot on Mass Golf's 2026 Team Massachusetts junior roster. His home club is The Milton-Hoosic Club.
Xaverian coach Gerry Lambert praised Morrow's composure after the October 2025 championship. "He's just an all-business kind of a guy … He wasn't going to crumble in the moment. He's just not that guy," Lambert told the Globe. "For somebody so, so young, to be able to be that way is very impressive."
The Hawks enter 2026 as the defending D1 champions and return both Morrow and teammate Michael McCormack, who compiled a team-best 34.77 scoring average during the 2025 season and is committed to the University of Rhode Island. According to the Globe's fall preview, all three defending MIAA golf champions return their top golfer for 2026.
Morrow is not the only local name on the Globe's watch list. Canton's Chase Thomas, a sophomore who helped propel the Bulldogs to the Division 2 state title as a freshman, also earned a spot. Thomas logged top-5 finishes at the D2 North sectional and the D2 final in fall 2025 and carried a 74.15 scoring average on the NEPGA Junior Tour during summer 2026.
The MIAA golf season opened the week of Sept. 1. The postseason qualifier cutoff is Oct. 15, and teams face a six-week sprint to the tournament.
