Milton elementary families can look up their children's fall math and reading assessment scores through the district's online portal, Milton Public Schools announced Monday, Oct. 19.

Results from two diagnostics are now live in the Performance Matters portal: i-Ready Inform for math and DIBELS for literacy. The data gives parents a first snapshot of where students stand academically in the 2026–27 school year.

Who was tested

Students in grades 2 through 5 have completed the i-Ready math diagnostic. First graders will take the test in early November, and kindergartners will complete it later in the school year, according to a communication from Brian Selig, Milton Public Schools math director.

For literacy, students in grades 1 through 5 sat for DIBELS assessments between Aug. 31 and Sept. 18. Kindergartners will be assessed at midyear. Cat Young, the district's K-8 literacy director, provided families with additional details in a separate letter, the district's announcement said.

What the tests measure

i-Ready Inform, formerly called the i-Ready Diagnostic, is a computer-adaptive math assessment. It adjusts difficulty as a student answers questions, measuring skills across grade levels. The test is administered up to three times a year at fall, winter and spring benchmarks, so families will see updated math scores as the year progresses.

DIBELS, short for Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills, uses brief fluency exercises to gauge reading development. It can also help screen for dyslexia risk.

How to access scores

Scores are available now. Parents can log in to Performance Matters through the Milton Public Schools website. The district recommends these steps once inside the portal:

  • Navigate to "additional results."
  • Confirm the school year is set to 2026–27.
  • Select the blank box under "measures."
  • Choose the assessment from the drop-down menu.

Login directions, walkthrough videos and FAQs are available on the district's Performance Matters page.

Families with questions about math results can reach Selig through the district. Questions about literacy scores can be directed to Young. The next round of diagnostic data will arrive after the winter testing window.
