Crews will begin removing and rebuilding pedestrian curb ramps on four Milton streets Friday, July 31, the first phase of a multi-month accessibility upgrade in the Atherton-Crestview corridor.

The Town of Milton retained Fall River-based LAL Construction Co. to reset curbing and reconstruct wheelchair-accessible ramps on Atherton Street, Crestview Road, Atherton Lane, and Crestview Lane, according to a project notice posted by the town's Engineering Department.

Work will run weekdays only, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. The town expects the curb ramp phase to wrap up around the week of Monday, Aug. 17.

Street parking is prohibited during construction hours, and police details will be on site to direct traffic, according to the town's roadway preservation page. Residents on the affected streets should move vehicles before 7 a.m. on workdays.

The project unfolds in stages. After LAL finishes the ramps and curbing, a separate roadway contractor will return for final paving in late August or early September. LAL then comes back in the fall to reconstruct asphalt sidewalks in the project area.

The town said it will send separate notifications before each phase begins.

The same stretch of Atherton Street and Crestview Road is also receiving a cold-in-place recycling pavement treatment this summer from contractor Indus of Braintree, part of Milton's broader 2026 Roadway Improvement Program. That means residents in the area will see multiple rounds of construction equipment through the fall as the town upgrades both the road surface and pedestrian infrastructure along the corridor.

The curb ramp program is recurring. The town completed a previous round of wheelchair ramp reconstruction in March and April 2023.

Residents can expect the next notification when the roadway paving contractor is ready to mobilize in late August or early September.
